i’m a born & bred jersey girl with lifelong roots in nyc and i try to steer clear of tourist attractions 10 months out of the year, but there’s just something about the holiday season in manhattan that has me flocking to all the best sights – the bryant park winter market, the rockefeller center christmas tree, the ice rink, and of course the ‘top of the rock’ exhibit! so last weekend i took to one of my favorite exhibits on the coldest day of the year, bundled in some new winter gear that i’m super psyched to be featuring. i’ve been feeling SO festive lately and it’s really rubbing off on my wardrobe! i may complain about the weather once in a while (aka always) — but when it all boils down to it, i am pretty darn grateful to live in a state where we (basically) get all four seasons to enjoy…. so today, as we head into the weekend before thanksgiving, i’m featuring one of my favorite looks from LAST year (before the days of indigo heights!) notice the black hair? yep…. this look was shot a while back and i’m just as obsessed with it now as i was when I first bought it. it’s my favorite time of the year! aside from extreme cold, the holidays are the best — family, friends, festive outfits, lots of food & fun seasonal cocktails…. what more could a girl want? this dress is a thanksgiving dream, with tons of room to feast and a color scheme that’s so seasonal it hurts. if you peeped part 1 of this post, you got to see the top half of this two-piece collaboration with rosegal featured in a super sporty style that had ‘downtown brooklyn’ written all over it. today, i want you to see the bottom half — a piece that’s totally unexpected — styled in true ‘brooklyn heights’ cobblestone fashion. it’s the sweetest, most sweatery skirt you’ll own: and it’s worth every penny! Continue reading “sporty vs. sweet, part 2: how a two-piece outfit yields opposite vibes”
how do you wear a crop top in the dead of fall? fleece vest + trucker hat! in all seriousness, this is one of my favorite looks that i wore last year while on vacation in arizona. the blog was a wee baby and i wasn’t fully focused on fashion… so this look slipped through the initial cracks, but it’s back and better than ever on the streets of nyc and i’m loving every minute of it! i love a gypsy glam moment, and this is a fall look that really speaks to me. i wear maxi dresses pretty often. they’re elongating, flattering and a fun way to be comfy and cute at the same time. the trouble with maxi dresses, though, are the fact that once you’ve worn it 5 or 6 times it starts to get real tired. literally everyone at one point or another has looked into their closet and thought “ugh, i’ve worn that so many times already.” that’s why i love this look – because what seems like one maxi dress is actually three super wearable and versatile outfits – making this the most practical maxi for fall. Continue reading “the most practical maxi dress for fall”
after a saturday of hiking and enjoying the foliage at hunter mountain, we spent sunday roaming around hudson, new york — chock full of hudson valley shopping & dining! it was incredibly humid and misty, hence the frizzy hair, so a hat was totally necessary to ease the pouf. i felt comfy and lightweight in a breezy swing babydoll top that was #sponsored by zaful! it was misting the entire morning that we spent at the alstede farms pumpkin patch. as you may have seen in an earlier entry, the skies wound up clearing and the sun made a brief appearance later in the day – but not before leaving us all damp and sticky. but no matter the weather, fall pumpkin picking is something i look forward to every year, and i always enjoy dressing for the occasion. Continue reading “pick of the patch: the coziest longline cardigan for fall ’17!”
yesterday i wrote about my trip to a farm, but that’s not all i’ve been getting into this fall. brooklyn’s cool and all, but in my opinion autumn is the most beautiful season and it would be a shame to miss the leaves as they turn – so the hubby and i took a long weekend out of the city and stayed at shinglekill falls bed & breakfast, where we explored hunter mountain, kaaterskill falls, and some seriously good home cooking.
