Family Photoshoot in Cancún Mexico by Denisse Cámara Photography!

A few weeks ago we traveled to Cancún with the girls for a family vacation. It was such a good time, much needed R&R, and so many core memories made for our girls. Full blog post on that, coming soon! Of course, while we were away in such a stunning location, I had to book a professional photoshoot to help us document where we are as a family right here, right now. Read on for a few details about the shoot, and most importantly to see Denisse’s beautiful work!

When it came to finding our photographer, I utilized Instagram as my “search engine” because Google would have likely sent me ‘tourist traps’ and I wanted to see the range of talent that Cancun really had to offer. There were lots of beautiful artists – but Denisse Camara’s work stood out to me. Earthy tones + Unposed, candid moments… seeing her Instagram profile, I was totally sold.

After she was officially booked, I worked on our outfits! My local photographer here in the U.S. suggested I wear the Santa Maria Maxi Dress by Free People, which comes in more than fifteen colors!!! – stating that it’s a great dress in particular for beach shoots – and I lucked out, because my future sister-in-law actually had one and allowed me to borrow it! My other sister-in-law actually also borrowed it for her maternity photoshoot so I have officially dubbed it the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Dress”. Having my outfit planned out and solid first, I moved onto the girls. Stevie had a Baby Moana vibe going on and she looked sooooo cute. Everything she wore was straight from her existing closet – the skirt was part of a different set, and the crochet backless top was made for me on Etsy before her first birthday – she’s just such a tiny peanut, it still its!! For Indie, I went with a beachy, linen pant set from Zara that added a pop of color to things. Lastly, for Stephen, he wore lightweight shorts and a textured linen buttondown both from Lucky. I absolutely loved our coordinated look. I made sure that Indie was the only one in a real bold “print” and that everything else was merely texture – too many bold prints would have been very clashy. I ran everything by Denisse via DM before I packed it up!

The shoot itself was fun. It was sunset and we headed down to the beach. Remember that pop of color that I mentioned I added to Indie’s outfit? Joke’s on me because Mother Nature decided to one-up it and give us a literal DOUBLE RAINBOW!!! It was absolutely gorgeous. The first rainbow was so strong and bright and as our shoot progressed, a second one began to peek through. We could not have asked for a more gorgeous backdrop. As if the beaches in Mexico aren’t beautiful enough… we lucked out with this. I know people will see these photos and assume that the rainbow was photoshopped in… but I promise you, it is 100% real.

The girls played in the sand, we walked together hand in hand, and the mosquitoes had themselves a feast. I’m so happy we did this, and I absolutely can’t wait to print & frame some of these. That’s enough blabbing – check out the photos below, and if you ever find yourself away on a tropical Mexican vacation… I highly recommend Denisse Camara Photography! And don’t forget to follow along with me on Instagram!
