swinging into summer with LOFT!

swinging into summer with LOFT!

if any of you have been following along on my insta-stories, you’ve noticed that i completely stopped posting about my jamaica ‘fitness journey ….. because i have honestly (no b.s.) been the worst about followthrough over the last month and a half. maybe i had too much going on – between my anniversary, birthday, housewarming parties…. there was always reason for me to eat horribly, and even when there wasn’t reason, there i was with the “oh well” mentality. cut to me needing flowy, forgiving frocks to enhance (… not conceal!!!) the extra fluff that i’m rocking this summer. that’s why i was so excited to find this swing dress from loft, which comes in so many different patterns, in regular AND petite sizing!  Continue reading “swinging into summer with LOFT!”

summer staycation with famous footwear!

summer staycation with famous footwear!

i’m so excited to be partnering with famous footwear on this post! ever since moving to the suburbs i changed up my work schedule to a true freelance lifestyle. i can’t say i’ve reached the point where i’m a “full time blogger” (YET)… but i’ve been lucky enough to be able to free up more time to dedicate to working with great brands and creating content that really inspires my audience. that being said, oftentimes creativity blossoms when you have time alone, relaxed, and inspired by nature…. so i decided to have a little ‘staycation’ last week right at the jersey shore! i took an afternoon to myself and hung out in spring lake, which is a stunning town with a beautiful, calm, never-crowded beach. read on for how famous footwear was incorporated into my day trip, and how i’ll continue to weave them into my summer 2018 wardrobe!  Continue reading “summer staycation with famous footwear!”

ditch your jeans – i’m saying YES to dresses this season!

ditch your jeans – i’m saying YES to dresses this season!

as soon as the ‘kinder’ weather hits, i start wearing dresses. as often as utterly possible. because dresses are comfortable…. easy to wear… and obviously because they’re super cute. it’s the easiest way for me to express myself without putting a ton of thought into my look – because let’s be real – life gets crazy, and sometimes your wardrobe gets thrown onto the back burner. in this entry, i’m discussing ways that basic casual day-dresses can elevate your look with little thought! texture takeover!

texture takeover!

if you follow my blog actively, you know that i LOVE playing with texture as a way to spice things up. when i first started blogging, i tried to wear bright, bold colors all the time and find the most funky walls to photograph in front of – and don’t get me wrong, i still tend to do that, but it’s simply not sustainable for everyday life, and my blog started feeling less authentic than i’d want it to. the more fashionistas i met, the more i realized that color – while important to me – is not necessarily all that makes an outfit stand out. today i’m featuring a really fun smock dress from target that i think checks all the boxes for unique, stand-out spring fashion. read on to hear my thoughts! An Ode To Empire Waist

An Ode To Empire Waist

Real talk: If you’ve been watching my Insta Stories lately, I’ve mentioned (more than once) that since moving to the ‘burbs I’ve put on some serious pounds. (Somewhere between 10 and 12…. but who’s counting, right? Oh yeah…. I AM….) I’m clearly a stress eater, and when the going gets tough, I get the munchies. Packing, moving, acclimating, commuting…. getting used to a new schedule and way of life… using my new kitchen for Taco Night… these are all factors that led me to this uncomfortable state, and as of May 1st I’ve been on an epic cleanse to get back to where I felt ‘bomb dot com’. That being said, I recently stumbled upon a cross-back dress with an empire waist that I bought in two colors because it was just THAT flattering (even on my current frame). I realized I never talk about empire waist… probably because I don’t wear it all that often… but it’s a silhouette we ALL should have stashed in our wardrobe for the inevitable day when we feel like we’ve gotta let it all out and cover it all up at the same time. I KNOW you know exactly what I’m talking about.  Continue reading “An Ode To Empire Waist”

crepe scarves to combat april’s chill

new york really takes a beating during the winter. in what feels like the sixth straight month of cold, bitter weather… i think we’ve all thrown in the towel and have agreed to collectively freeze in spring clothing until mother nature decides she’s ready to join us… so this next look that i’m featuring pairs a (new) denim shift dress with some old accessories that help to keep this look transitional and functional (enough) for our current temperature situation. if you’re reading from a region that’s already warmed up significantly… forget everything i’m about to say, throw this dress on with your favorite sandals, and call it a day. but if you’re here in the tri-state… read on for some simple tips to mid-april-warmth.  Continue reading “crepe scarves to combat april’s chill”
