An Ode To Empire Waist

An Ode To Empire Waist

Real talk: If you’ve been watching my Insta Stories lately, I’ve mentioned (more than once) that since moving to the ‘burbs I’ve put on some serious pounds. (Somewhere between 10 and 12…. but who’s counting, right? Oh yeah…. I AM….) I’m clearly a stress eater, and when the going gets tough, I get the munchies. That being said, I recently stumbled upon a cross-back dress with an empire waist that I bought in two colors because it was just THAT flattering (even on my current frame). brocade brigade: party of one

brocade brigade: party of one

i love delving into fabrics and what they’re most suited for. today i’m talking about brocade – “a rich fabric, usually silk, woven with a raised pattern, typically with gold or silver thread.” this texture is most often found in your grandma’s sitting room…. but since the fall of 2017, it’s been hitting the runways (and the streets of nyc) like crazy. read on for inspo on how to wear this fun print in real life.
