my father recently turned 60, and we threw him a big surprise birthday bash at his favorite local restaurant with 90 of his nearest & dearest. it was dressy, but low-key at the same time… so when it came to choosing a look, i thought i’d make a statement with sleeves – and i got so many compliments that this entry is dedicated entirely to this flirty, frilly blouse that i snagged at forever21, and all the similar styles that spoke to me as i searched for the perfect ‘statement sleeve’!  Continue reading “statement sleeves with forever21”

this is not a drill: holiday glitz for under 11 bucks!!!

this past weekend i hosted my second (ever) blogger event! it was a winter holiday-themed “jingle & mingle” event where i hung with my favorite blogger pals that i’ve met over the past 11 months…. for an amazing cause! we donated to the ‘fill a purse for a sister’ campaign, which not only was a great way to give back during the holiday season, but was also a fashion-focused excuse to spend the day brunching and catching up with one another. since i was the host, and this was all about the holidays, i knew i had to bust out the glitz! let’s flamingle!

let’s flamingle!

everyone’s excited for fall – autumn hues, jackets, booties and hats – but just because the weather is chilly, doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to get dreary! on my first day in chicago, i wore a bright and bold outfit that was weather-appropriate for the windy city’s fall chill, proving you can extend bright and tropical vibes well beyond august. pleats, please!

pleats, please!

the last outfit i wore on my trip to italy (yes, literally the last outfit before i flew home) was fun and casual. denim skirts have been all the rage for spring/summer 17, and by august, i was needing to put a twist on it so i went full schoolgirl style in a forever21 pleated number for a dinner in the boardwalk town of soverato. bold blooms in georgetown, d.c.

it’s rare that i feel compelled to shoot the same look in two locations, but on this particular day in georgetown, i had no idea what i was in for. i began my shoot at the ‘wave wall’ (a location i had scouted before even stepping foot in d.c.) – but as soon as i packed up my things and headed towards my brunch reservation, i passed the cutest, brightly-painted shop. i took one look at my husband (who was my assistant for the day) and he knew we were stopping to snag a few more photos of this perfectly-matched look.
