i know, i know…. it’s been forever since my last #indigohome post! i’m not exactly sure why i was slacking so much on that. perhaps it was because summer was in full swing and all i wanted to do was be outdoors – or perhaps it was because my summer instagram color scheme was too bright and bold to infuse a little farmhouse living… but either way, i’m back in action and showing off some photos of my first ever “real” kitchen! Real talk: If you’ve been watching my Insta Stories lately, I’ve mentioned (more than once) that since moving to the ‘burbs I’ve put on some serious pounds. (Somewhere between 10 and 12…. but who’s counting, right? Oh yeah…. I AM….) I’m clearly a stress eater, and when the going gets tough, I get the munchies. Packing, moving, acclimating, commuting…. getting used to a new schedule and way of life… using my new kitchen for Taco Night… these are all factors that led me to this uncomfortable state, and as of May 1st I’ve been on an epic cleanse to get back to where I felt ‘bomb dot com’. That being said, I recently stumbled upon a cross-back dress with an empire waist that I bought in two colors because it was just THAT flattering (even on my current frame). I realized I never talk about empire waist… probably because I don’t wear it all that often… but it’s a silhouette we ALL should have stashed in our wardrobe for the inevitable day when we feel like we’ve gotta let it all out and cover it all up at the same time. I KNOW you know exactly what I’m talking about. Continue reading “An Ode To Empire Waist”
i love delving into fabrics and what they’re most suited for. today i’m talking about brocade – “a rich fabric, usually silk, woven with a raised pattern, typically with gold or silver thread.” this texture is most often found in your grandma’s sitting room…. but since the fall of 2017, it’s been hitting the runways (and the streets of nyc) like crazy. read on for inspo on how to wear this fun print in real life. everyone’s excited for fall – autumn hues, jackets, booties and hats – but just because the weather is chilly, doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to get dreary! on my first day in chicago, i wore a bright and bold outfit that was weather-appropriate for the windy city’s fall chill, proving you can extend bright and tropical vibes well beyond august. Continue reading “let’s flamingle!”
i love it when a brand collaborates with me multiple times, because it means there was a mutual love for both the product and the content. a few months back, i debuted a super fun pair of lularoe leggings (what they’re most well-known for)… and i’m thrilled to be working with them again to showcase one of my new favorite fall pieces, their madison midi skirt!
i love the summer months. i have so much fun wearing bright colors, tropical prints, and shooting in exotic locations. but i’m a new yorker through and through, and by august, i’m itching for my edge back. this outfit is my tiny, little rebellion. Continue reading “how to do summer the edgy way”
