summer is a tricky season when it comes to style… because what’s “in” today will likely not be “in” next july – so i’ve decided that one way i’ll save some coin is through shopping for high-turnover pieces and pairing them with timeless investment accessories that i’ll use more frequently. and that’s where target comes in! read on for details about this city-chic look and for some impressive pricing details!
everyone knows i’m obsessed with target. their designer partnerships and decent quality garments keep me coming back for pieces that i won’t feel terrible about tossing when the season comes to a close. i found these ruffle hem shorts from the who what wear collection on a whim. didn’t even try them on, and i knew they’d be perfect! they’re only $20 and are so easily dressed up or down. in fact, the day i shot this look i wore flat gladiator sandals and then changed into my heels (which i’m obsessed with) a bit later on when i met up with a friend for lunch. these stiletto-mule hybrid shoes are by louise et cie, a brand that i’ve never worn until now. i always try on their shoes in nordstrom, and my mom surprised me with them for my birthday last month knowing i had my eye on them. they carry sleek, minimalist pieces which i really appreciate when it comes to footwear, because they’ll match every outfit – which is what makes these shoes a solid “investment accessory”. some other investment pieces that are making this outfit: my gucci marmont crossbody bag, alexander mcqueen sunglasses and kendra scott earrings! these are the kinds of pieces every girl needs in her closet to spice up looks that are tossable. did i mention my tank top costs $4?!
there’s proof in the pudding – you don’t have to be decked out in designer from head to toe to feel (and look) like a million bucks. learning how to choose the pieces that are worth the spend is a skill you’ll take with you straight to the bank. what are some pieces you own that you know you’d feel fine tossing? and alternatively… i want you to search through your wardrobe for solid investment pieces. do you own any? are you in dire need of a few really good statement items? it’s never a bad time to assess what you’re wearing and make some upgrades! follow along on instagram for more outfit ideas just like this one, and shop my pieces through the links below!
