ditch your jeans – i’m saying YES to dresses this season!

as soon as the ‘kinder’ weather hits, i start wearing dresses. as often as utterly possible. because dresses are comfortable…. easy to wear… and obviously because they’re super cute. it’s the easiest way for me to express myself without putting a ton of thought into my look – because let’s be real – life gets crazy, and sometimes your wardrobe gets thrown onto the back burner. in this entry, i’m discussing ways that basic casual day-dresses can elevate your look with little thought!

people are so afraid of dresses. they feel you need to be made up, wearing uncomfortable shoes, and/or going somewhere special. in this entry i want to scream from the rooftops: THAT IS SO FAR FROM THE TRUTH!!!!!!!! dresses can actually be more casual than your favorite lived-in jeans! it’s all about texture and silhouette. in this universal thread frock from target, i’ve got room to breathe in 100% cotton, which makes it perfect for ‘everyday’. the lace-up front feature and cinched waist are flattering, and of course i love the color… but the natural wrinkles and tiered ruffles are what makes this piece so easy to wear. by the way… it’s only $25!!!

i paired it with a matching bag/shoe combo. the ‘driving loafers’ are from old navy and while they’re not the most structured things for walking all day (… you get what you pay for!) they’re really handy to have in your closet! they go perfectly with my floral applique crossbody by rebecca minkoff. that’s an oldie-but-goodie, so i’ve linked y’all to some similar pieces, since floral appliques are trending hard right now.

last but not least, a simple ‘diamond’ tennis bracelet completes this really EASY look. i wore it to do some freelance work and to have a big giant mexican lunch (thank goodness for the roominess!) – so it’s safe to say this dress gets an A+ and will definitely be staying in my closet. ditch the leggings, stash the jeans… now that we can finally say spring is here, find yourself some flowy, casual frocks to get you through the nice days in style. have you been following along on instagram? click here to stay in the loop!
