show some face: the perks of high-neck swimwear

it’s march 4th, and here in the tri-state area, we’re (hopefully) about 8 weeks away from consistently warmer weather… which means you’re either getting your beach body ready to debut, or you’re impatiently jetting off to some exotic locale for a bit of relief from the cold. either way, it’s time to start thinking about 2018 swimwear so i’m featuring some suits in one of my favorite silhouettes: high neck. read on for more!

i spent a few luxurious days in tulum last month, so i started thinking about this on the early side. the winter fluff has parked itself right smack in my midsection, so i was feeling a bit self-conscious about the whole bathing suit situation which is why the content you see from this trip will feature suit styles that draw the eye elsewhere. in some cases it was a plunging neckline, or even a suit with high-cut legs. but my personal favorite has been the high-neck suits, because the eye is drawn to your face – up and away!

sure, this silhouette is trendy right now regardless of it’s confidence-building properties. but if you’re really looking for something that will flatter, i urge you to try this cut out the next time you’re shopping for a new suit. the onepiece that i wore was #sponsored by shein. it has a double-clasp closure in the back, and the print gave off serious mayan vibes, so it worked against tulum’s beautiful backdrop. and guess what? this suit is on sale right now for literally $11. yes. eleven. dollars.

the two piece is a last-season suit from macys, specifically the jessica simpson line (which still blows my mind to this day… they have some seriously great pieces). i’ve linked you guys to some similar styles below that will trick the eye and leave you worry-free to enjoy your next vacay. to accessorize, i opted to keep it fun and bright with some reflective sunnies from urban outfitter and “SUN PLS” slides by aerie.

the moral of the story is this: when a swimsuit lifts you up (literally and figuratively) you have so much more freedom to relax, have fun, spread out, and enjoy the warm weather. don’t get sucked into the trap of wearing silhouettes that are “in” – because as tempting as that may seem, you may wind up stiff, self-conscious and sorry you chose it. whether you’re into florals, stripes, or global patterns – there is always something out there that suits you better than “what everyone’s wearing”. let’s make “suiting for our bodies” the next trend in 2018 swimwear, shall we? follow along on instagram to stay in the loop!
