dressed-up boho

it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that boho = beachy and laid back. i get it… i really do. the materials are breathable, silhouettes are loose, and sometimes it’s tough to envision a night out when you’re rocking the most shapeless thing in your closet. today i’m featuring a look that has all the aspects of boho-chic that we love, without looking sloppy or unkempt. read on for more! i got this free people swing top with a gift card that i had received for christmas, and i’m SO glad that i did. this top is a cotton blend – not something you’d typically wear to get dressy – but the lace arm & shoulder detailing and mock turtle neckline elevate this from your average long sleeved tee to a statement piece worth wearing out to dinner. (in this case, we went for high-end mexican, and it. was. everything.)

paired with jeans and over the knee boots, this top is put together, feminine, and packs a punch. to add to the look, i’m working with a tory burch velvet floral crossbody they boasts metallic accents throughout. it’s lightweight, roomy, and matches the top almost exactly!

i’ve linked you to both of these statement pieces below (including the bag in the larger size too!) if you’re looking to sport a boho vibe but need to look more polished, the moral of the story is to add in TEXTURE and luxe materials to balance out the casual. in this case – the lace, velvet, leather and metallic accents are what elevate “jeans and a tee” to a look of laid back luxury!
