big little bags

to piggyback on my last blog post, i’m a strong believer in function when it comes to selecting a solid purse, and because of that, i’ve partnered with aimee kestenberg to feature some of my favorite handbags from her newest collection. in my last post i focused on dailywear…. but today i’m moving on an evening style that i’m calling ‘the big-little-bag’!

it’s a dilemma i’ve run into so many times over the course of my adult life: nothing ever fits in my clutch, and i get sick of holding it all night long. even certain evening crossbody bags are so tiny, they barely hold your smartphone. and then you have the hard, structured lacquer statement clutch – which looks incredible but doesn’t move, bend, or mold to your belongings. i struggle so hard with little bags, because i love how they look, but i can never cut down my essentials enough to wear them without a hassle.

in today’s post, however, i’m wearing the zanna crossbody bag in ‘oil slick’. i’ve also linked it for you guys below in a similar hue. i love this purse because of the cool metallic design, but i also love the size. it’s only 8 inches high, but the leather is soft with tons of movement and the bag really bends to fit everything i need – my wallet, my headphones, a comb, my phone, a pack of gum, and a good lipstick. maybe even my portable phone charger if i’m feeling daring. i also love the strap detailing on this piece because you can wear it across the body with one chain, or you can double it up and sling it over one shoulder with a shorter strap! (that’s how i wear it).

this is the perfect outfit for a casual date night or girls’ dinner. i paired this statement bag with a starry sweatshirt, some bright jeggings, and my favorite black booties. simple, with a bit of glitz! the next time i style this bag, i’ll be sure to showcase it with something even more dressy. thanks to aimee kestenberg for sending me these awesome pieces, and feel free to shop the entire outfit directly below! have you followed indigo heights on instagram yet?
