yesterday, new york was hit with a #BOMBCYCLONE and i braved the thick of it… all “for the gram”.
i have been dying to (properly) feature this coat from river island on the blog. i received it as a christmas present from my hubby, but due to wacky holiday shipping, i didn’t actually receive it until after the holidays. i was banking on taking it with me upstate… and when that didn’t happen…. i had to find the soonest possible time to give this jacket the spotlight it deserves.
after lazing around for a majority of the day, i wound up venturing out to meet my pal (and neighbor) mary from @layersofchicblog for a coffee in our neighborhood. we frolicked through almost a foot of snow (and by frolicked i mean trudged through). we caught up on our holidays, the last few weeks, and our lives since we had last seen each other.
i made literally zero effort to put myself together for this coffee date. i wore age-old patterned leggings (similar styles linked below), an athleta sweatshirt, my sorel snowboots (a necessity) and barely ran a brush through my hair. lucky mary… her coffee date was lookin’ mighty fine!!! but here’s the deal – with a coat like this, i didn’t have to do any work at all to feel like i was making a statement. at this price point, it can’t be beat. this is the kind of piece that looks like it cost at least 4x what was paid for it. the hood is absolutely gigantic – i feel like a bright, fashion-forward yeti…. which is a nickname one of my dear friends has called me for over a decade now. i paired this standout piece with equally awesome gloves that have multicolored pom fur accents on the wrists.
the #bombcyclone was a duisy, but i felt so. darn. warm. shop this coat directly via the link below – and tell a friend to check me out on instagram – big leaps and bounds are happening and it’s all thanks to YOU guys!
