last month i attended the nickelodeon halo awards here in nyc and i needed the perfect (last-minute) outfit to wear that would be fun, comfortable and affordable. i found it in this sheer, glitzy maxi gown from forever21 – and this piece worked so well that i might even wear it again on new years’ eve!
i had the most amazing time at the awards show. we watched kelsea ballerini and kelly clarkson perform… nick cannon was an incredible host… and most importantly, the kids who were recognized for their humanitarian efforts (at such a young age!) were inspiring and super cute. the room was filled with positive energy, and their theme ironically revolved around lights — we received light up rings, watches and other fun jewelry to blend in with their elaborate set. think ‘ball drop’ status.
… so it was perfect that i had decided to wear this sheer maxi gown because it literally shimmers every time you move! i paired it with a tank dress underneath but it’s really an easy piece to pair with just about anything – white, nude, a long black slip… even a bodysuit if you’re feeling really bold! i love this as a new years’ eve option because i’ve spent wayyyy to many nights ringing in the new year in something that’s short, tight, uncomfortable, and freezing. #thisis30 – and i guess you could say i’m being more practical these days – but i find this dress to be just as sexy, while providing a teeny bit more coverage!
you can even get away with pairing it with booties instead of sky-high stilettos! at this event i wore my hair half-up and wrapped the base of my tiny pony with my own hair to cover the elastic band. my gucci marmont bag was a no-brainer accessory at this particular show, but for new years’ eve, i’d envision a brightly colored clutch worn as a pop! can you picture it!? follow along on instagram to stay in the loop – it’s gonna get real christmasy again real soon…. the holidays are upon us and i’ve got some fun stuff planned for the next couple of weeks!
