it was misting the entire morning that we spent at the alstede farms pumpkin patch. as you may have seen in an earlier entry, the skies wound up clearing and the sun made a brief appearance later in the day – but not before leaving us all damp and sticky. but no matter the weather, fall pumpkin picking is something i look forward to every year, and i always enjoy dressing for the occasion.
it’s a tricky day to plan for. i usually wear layers (which came in handy on this day in particular) and while the girly-girl in me wants to be “cute for fall” – the practical 30 year old woman warns that comfort is key when rummaging through muddy rows of fruits & veggies. i had just the piece to tie everything together. i’m so excited to debut this longline cardigan with sequin details, #sponsored by rosegal. the olive color and textured, chunky knit scream ‘all things autumn’ and i was able to take it off when the humidity peaked, revealing a cream-colored basic tank. i wore my favorite jeans, a pair of riding boots and brought along my favorite eggplant colored tote.
olive has never been high on my list of favorite colors, but one thing i absolutely love about this sweater is the shoulder detail. the sequins on this are large, scaley, holographic accents. they give a modern, super fun flair to the kind of garment that would otherwise be deemed “earthy” or “classic” (neither of which i identify with). it’s the perfect happy medium piece for fall. and did i mention it’s super warm? unfortunately, this one day in particular was not a day i needed extra insulation – but i have a good feeling this sweater will be coming in handy later in the season (when the brisk air decides to stick around for good)!
in the end, i picked a perfect medium-sized pumpkin but wound up leaving it with my mom in new jersey. the patch was so pretty and lots of fun – even in the mist! i’ve linked you to my outfit below, and i’ll be posting more on instagram as the rest of my fall outfits roll out!
