nyfw look 1

what a whirlwind! i just finished my first ever #NYFW and it was such a blast! for the next few days/posts, i’ll be recapping my looks – and then finally – my entire experience. for look number 1, i eased into fashion week with my take on ‘athleisure chic’.

i’ve had these lululemon jogger pants for several years now, and every time i wear them i get compliments. (and no, i’ve never worn them to actually exercise!) they are black-on-black ‘hidden’ camouflage print with a drawstring, cuffed ankles and a sheen over the top. (similar found here). they look absolutely beautiful with heels and a crop top – but for fashion week, i opted for my new adidas slides. my husband has very similar sneakers that i call his ‘going out sneakers’ because this type of shoe, though it has an athletic feel to it, actually works best in situations where fashion comes first. i bought these at the nordstrom anniversary sale for a steal and i have a feeling i’ll be in them every day this fall!

on top i wore my favorite black aerie bralette underneath this sheer, shimmery, bell-sleeved blouse from zara. of course, for some reason, the top is nowhere to be found on zara online — and it’s so specific that there’s really nothing similar to link you guys to… so i apologize for that, but it was too pretty not to feature so let’s discuss ways in which you can use this look to inspire your fall wardrobe!

this isn’t the only bell-sleeved sweater on the market. you can easily find less-dramatic bell sleeved pieces in major department stores! if you’re looking for mega-drama like this piece serves and you can’t find the sleeves specifically, my next go-to would be to find a top that had a mini “cape” attached from the shoulders. this is a super chic statement-maker and totally something i’d be open to trying this fall.

to finish off this look, i threw on a black brimmed hat, some tassel earrings, a bold red lip and of course my vintage gucci handbag. these pieces all add to the urban, city-chic look that i was going for, and they dress up the pants/sneakers tenfold. after this ‘tame’ fashion week starter look… it only gets bolder from here! follow along on instagram to check out the rest of my looks from new york fashion week, and stay tuned for more detailed posts discussing each individual look!
