how much blue is too much blue?

i was headed out to a lunch date with an old friend who found herself back in new york for a few weeks. it was casual, so i opted for a day-friendly tank dress that was flexible enough to wear straight to work afterwards.

when it came to accessorizing, i almost went full-blown camel backpack, camel flats and nude/gold jewelry… but something prompted me to go monochromatic, and it turned out to be such a fashion forward look. the earrings, which i featured in another recent post of mine, are from a boutique in cape may, new jersey. i’ve linked similar ones below! my denim chambray slides were all of $16 by rampage from marshall’s – but i’ve linked some similar pairs for you all to shop. these slides are amazing because they give off the appearance of a “dressier” shoe (block heel!) but they feel like flat gladiator sandals. i hope this mule trend isn’t going anywhere any time soon, because i am all about it. i matched my background to the blue hues so that my neon tory burch crossbody really popped as my accent color!

living in nyc, i’m so lucky to be able to find backgrounds that speak to whatever it is i’m wearing. i only had to walk a few blocks from lunch to find this setting! and i sure am glad, because this was one of the hottest days ever. it was sticky and humid beyond comprehension, so i was “in and out” – shot this look as fast as i possibly could, glistening more with every minute that passed. ah, the art of the craft.
