i love love love bringing back pieces from last years’ wardrobe and making them super current. the piece i’m featuring today is an affordable butterfly print maxi dress that i bought from target and wore to a wedding (yes – to a wedding!!! target for the win!). this time around, i’ve dressed it way down with casual accessories that scream summer ’17. you’d never know this dress was an oldie-but-goodie!
i’ve linked some similar options below (since this one is obviously no longer available). i’ve linked in lighter colors, because in a perfect world, this summer i probably wouldn’t be rocking black. that said, its still so pretty, super flattering, and a fun piece to bust out every now and then. last year i wore this with a pair of black pumps and a black clutch. i played up the darkness and used the butterflies as my pop of color.
this year, though, i’m doing the exact opposite. i’m wearing accessories that feed off of the vibrant butterfly pattern, in an effort to minimize the role that the black base plays. and you know what? i think it worked! since i was only going to dinner, for my re-styling of this dress i opted for a much flatter (and much more comfy) denim open-toed mule. to accessorize, i wore blue bauble & tassel earrings (linked similar below) that actually came from a tiny boutique in cape may, nj. my brother & his girlfriend picked these up for me as a souvenir last month and i am so obsessed!
i tied it all together with a vivid, neon crossbody by tory burch. this summer it’s all about the bright and the bold, the texture and the tassels. this outfit covers pretty much every major trend of the season — and the star of the show is totally not an in-season dress! would you have known? do you have something in your closet that you can re-style to fit in with whats trending right at this very moment? comment below! and don’t forget to follow @indigoheightsblog on instagram too!
