while spending the day in georgetown, we happened upon chez billy sud – a lovely french restaurant set inside a historic carriage house. we sat down for what turned out to be an amazingly delicious brunch.
chez billy sud is a favorite spot of our former first lady michelle obama! this space had every detail speaking to me. from the herringbone grains in the hardwood floors, to the upstairs victorian-style restrooms, the petite tiles covering the bar area, and the metallic molding detailed on almost every surface – this restaurant is truly easy on the eye and makes you feel as though you’ve turned up on a quiet street in france. i sipped on a frenchman cocktail and ordered the croque madame (ham & gruyere cheese with fried egg and béchamel). i was tickled by the old-school striped “soda shop” straws that came in our drinks, and super satisfied with the sandwich, which was exactly what i needed to re-fuel for a day of serious shopping.
the service was great, and the added profiterole to top off our meal was (literally) the sweetest touch. i have to say, we were all feeling like having similar meals this day, so the imagery isn’t as diverse as i typically like it to be when showcasing what a restaurant can produce… but lucky for me, chez billy sud speaks for itself and the aesthetic tells a story all it’s own. this space is perfect for a ladies’ brunch or an intimate event. i had a fantastic time at chez billy sud and would recommend this brunch to anyone visiting georgetown! follow chez billy sud on instagram, and don’t forget to follow me too!
