as i’ve hinted at a few times before, i typically take my own photos – so it was a milestone moment when i relinquished creative control to work with one of my favorite photographers (and former classmate – and birthday twin) eric tronolone. this is the first of three looks that we shot throughout lower manhattan, and i am so obsessed with his incredible work.
matching an outfit to a backdrop is one of my all time favorite things — and rotisserie chicken is a close second, so it made perfect sense to shoot at the mural that lives outside of baby brasa restaurant in the west village. i felt so uninhibited and unrestricted without the technical stuff getting in my way, and bouncing my energy off of eric’s made for a really fun shooting experience. i might have to do this more often!
for this first look, i paired an off-the-shoulder top from francesca’s with floral tourers by zara (linked similar styles below). a pop of turquoise in the earrings was exactly what this outfit needed. lately i’m finding that turquoise jewelry can be worn with literally anything. i used to be matchy-matchy with turquoise… but the nicer the pieces the more frequently i want to wear them, and the less i care about them fitting exactly with my outfit. if you have any beautiful turquoise jewelry at home, the next time you wear them, try pairing them with an oddball, out of the box piece (and be sure to tag me on instagram when you do!) you can do so much more with turquoise than you think you can. make a bold choice. you feel me, baby?
