it’s no secret i gravitate toward the bold & the bright, so i was smitten when i met someone wearing this neon tangerine skirt from zara at an event that i attended recently. it was one of those ‘had to have it’ moments where i ran to the store to find it before it sold out. because it’s so loud, and i wanted it to be the center of attention, i initially had paired it with an off the shoulder denim top (seen here) and a bright tassel necklace, but at the suggestion of my friend (and rockstar stylist) @shopwithcat, i wound up pairing it with a print – which was out of the box for me! for some reason i worried that a print would take the attention away from the skirt, but silly me, this color is so epic that literally nothing could dull it’s shine. unfortunately, the skirt isn’t available to be linked through rewardstyle (below) and the tank has since circulated out of the rotation, but i’ve linked you guys to a few different and similar options below so you can create your own version of this look!
i wore this outfit out for my anniversary. we headed up to the elizabeth arden red door spa on fifth avenue for a couples’ massage, got ready in their facilities, and then went straight to a classic (and delicious) steak dinner at wolfgang’s followed by an 8pm performance of miss saigon on broadway. this outfit (which i paired with a denim jacket the night that i wore it) was the exact level of ‘dressy’ that was necessary for the occasion. it was fashion-forward and classy at the same time. since i’ve gone into detail on our date-day, we ended the evening at the roxy hotel where we spent our wedding night – complete with one year old (thawed out) wedding cake. it was perfection, and just like i felt on my wedding day, that skirt had me commanding every room i walked into. it is, by far, one of my favorite pieces i’ve purchased this spring 2017 season.
to accessorize, i wore some raw quartz crystal drop earrings, leather wrap bracelets by vera bradley, and my new favorite pavé ring from francesca’s. slip on some easy mules, and the look is complete! what do you think? would this skirt make it’s way into your closet? or would you want to see it in a more neutral color? follow me on instagram to stay in the loop – and by the way – i’m now on twitter too!
