spring is (finally) in the air, and i’m all shopped out. i have scoured the racks and stocked up on all the latest trends for this spring/summer season – so when new york metro personal shopper + stylist cathy calderon reached out to collaborate on a ‘shop my closet’ post, i took it as a sign to give my credit card a much-needed breather. she came to my apartment and worked her magic, styling me for this (very special) shoot using pieces i already had sitting in my closet. and i might add, she put together an outfit that was totally not what i was expecting.
i mentioned that this was a special shoot, and i’m so excited to announce that i’ve partnered with jord watches on a spring campaign featuring their ‘cora’ timepiece (in zebrawood & turquoise). these watches are unbelievably gorgeous and unique – with sleek, modern frames and eye-catching colorful faces. shop men’s here, and shop women’s here. a favorite quote from their website: “we make our watches for people who don’t just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go.” jord (pronounced yode) and i have teamed up to give one lucky reader a $100 gift code to use towards your very own wooden watch! and…. every single person who enters to win will automatically receive a $25 consolation promo code! the giveaway will close on june 11th, 2017 at 11:59pm. all prizes will expire on august 31st, 2017. you can enter to win by clicking here!
cathy styled my entire look with this watch in mind. i like to call these shorts my ‘matador shorts’. i bought them a few months back from necessary clothing, and always thought i’d wear them to my next swanky girls night out with a strappy black top and some pumps, so i was shocked to hear we’d be incorporating them into a more casual daytime spring look! on top she opted for an off-the-shoulder smocked chambray top – and though not exact, i’ve linked you to some similar options below, since i’ve had mine for quite some time. my shoes are a repeat feature: the ‘econi fringe sandal’ by guess, and my earrings are also ‘oldie but goodies’ and i’ve linked to a few current and similar options below. i threw on my brand new vera bradley backpack and was out the door, feeling amazinggggg having finally cut the tags of my ‘matador’ shorts! shopping my own closet really taught me to appreciate the things i already have. it’s so easy to get swept up in the excitement of keeping up with the season’s newest trends that we forget all the trusty pieces we have already, just waiting to be used in new and innovative ways. that’s where cathy comes in. In addition to working within (and editing) peoples’ closets, cathy also does wardrobe shopping (with or without the client), and styling for any life occasion – from size change, to job change, vacation, bridal, and more! the ‘shop with cat’ brand is on the come up, and soon will even offer style workshops and shopping tours. check her out on instagram!
