#stylemyway: a twist on the classic white striped button-down

this past weekend was super fun. i attended my very first event with style collective at the ann taylor store of garden state plaza. some traffic got in my way, and i was on the later side (rookie move)…. so if i missed any of my style collective sisters, i hope to see you at my very own event with vera bradley soho on sunday, may 7th! there will be brunch bites & mimosas (courtesy of adoro lei), a pop-up braid bar for some pampering by gina ribando hair, calligraphy customization by @ordershewrotenyc, and of course exclusive in-store discounts! this ‘shop & sip’ event is for literally anyone who’s interested, and you can reserve a spot by clicking here. the ann taylor event was super cute, with some sweet treats, a complimentary kiehl’s complexion check, and a bobbi brown artist doing makeup touch-up’s! so fun! not to mention the gorgeous ann taylor spring line. before i made my way to the event, i had a photo sesh to showcase a look worthy of some saturday shopping.

i had a fresh hair cut & color by gina ribando (speak of the devil!) – and i was sporting a brand new shirt & bralette duo. my top is from marshall’s (only $15!!!), and i paired it with a bralette that’s part of aerie’s newest collection. i had been looking for a striped button-down. i wanted something classic, but every time i try on the traditional striped button-down i’m always left wanting something more. this shirt did just the trick, and i was able to wear this #stylemyway. it’s “babydoll” shape adds youthful, feminine flair – and the multi-directional stripes give it a modern edge. for me, it’s a more “classic” look…. while still allowing my quirks to shine through the outfit.  the bralette is actually amazing. i bought it in two colors and i’m going back for a third, because it magically works as my only form of bra, and though i’m a petite person, i’m actually pretty busty. something that ‘flimsy’ doesn’t usually work for my body, so major props to that little, mighty swatch of cloth for actually holding me up & in.

my jeans are william rast from francesca’s – the bag is the rebecca minkoff regan satchel tote in gray – and my shoes are my favvvvorite fuchsia talia loafers by sam edelman which gave this outfit just the color pop it needed (especially in front of that blue wall. sensory overload!!!) top it all off with a bold statement necklace (old school topshop favorite) and i was ready to meet some of my style collective sisters face to face!

now excuse me while i pack away all of my new spring purchases in time to jet set to miami tomorrow morning……… travel guide coming soon to the blog! are you a fan of this look? are you a classic stripes gal, or is this out-of-the-box twist on a classic doing the trick for you? leave me your comments on instagram!
