fifty shades of mauve: a pre-spring, monochromatic #ootd

after a few glorious weeks of mild weather in february, new york was hit with another batch of snow and cold when march arrived. “in like a lion, out like a lamb” (or so they say)! – i’ve been super bummed to have to put my new spring clothes on the back burner, but i’m excited to feature this interim look: perfectly cozy and warm, while sticking to a light color scheme to keep things airy and optimistic. i just couldn’t bring myself to go all the way back to the wintery hues. in fact, unique ways of using color is technically the theme of this post! while piecing this #ootd together, i opted for a monochromatic color scheme… meaning every piece is within the same color family….. down to my lipstick which is ‘pink plaid’ by  mac cosmetics. the statement necklace is last season topshop, but you can find a similar one this season from chloe & isabel. on to one of my favorite winter sweaters, this blush pink top is just the right amount of ‘slouchy’. it’s from francesca’s and a similar shape can be found here. the blush is sold out, but it’s totally worth the sale price to stash the maroon colored one away for next winter. seriously the most comfy thing! moving right along, as you travel down these images below, you can check out my eggplant leggings courtesy of aritzia, and my matching eggplant riding boots by børn (same boots in black found here). i’m carrying the regan satchel tote by rebecca minkoff. this bag is the perfect size, and the leather is so soft. all of these pieces are in the ‘mauve’ family. some are a bit lighter, some are a bit darker… but when your eye travels from my lips down to my toes, the grayish-pink hue is present in every piece that comprises this look. follow me on instagram, and tag me in your own monochromatic outfits!
