i’m so excited to share with you all my spring/summer 2017 swim style! i worked super hard on getting fit all winter, so i splurged on some gorgeous swimwear in anticipation of my two (yes, two!!!) miami trips. with one down and one to go, i had a blast putting together some looks that i felt comfortable and confident in during my stay at the delano hotel. it was #purestrappiness, to say the least. (see what i did there?)
we arrived at the delano and immediately unpacked, went to lunch and headed out to the pool. isn’t it gorgeous? originally the design brainchild of robert swartburg, the most recent renovation was done by one of my all-time favorite designers: philippe starck. i’ll never forget the day i googled philippe starck. one of my best friends and i were looking for an apartment in the financial district of manhattan. i walked into 95 wall street and my mouth fell open at the architecture, furniture, colors, textures…. all of it. i knew i couldn’t afford that building at the time (or probably now?) but it made such an impact on me that i actually did the research to find out who created the glamour inside that luxury rental building. so needless to say, i love it at the delano for many reasons – one of them being the design. at some point i’ll fully cover the delano hotel in all of it’s art-deco beauty, but until that blog post has a place in my queue, i’ll leave you with this: starck has a distinct style, and someone who knows his work will know – immediately – that the delano is on his resumé.

anyway, back to the swimsuits. my day one look was the quickest and easiest. i grabbed the first bathing suit i could find floating at the top of my suitcase because i wanted to get out into the heat as fast as i could. this is a mix-and-match duo. the bottoms are the shade & shore ‘wade ruffle cheeky’. shade & shore is target’s newest line of swimwear that was poached from victoria’s secret. why victoria’s secret did away with their swim line is beyond me… it was so awesome and i’ll really miss it… but i’m glad to see that, despite a downgrade in overall quality, the cuts and style remain the same. if you are in need of a v.s. swimsuit in this tragic post-v.s.-swimsuit day and age, head over to target for something similar! the bikini top is the pilyq hindi banded tie halter which i purchased at macy’s but is currently available on south beach swimsuits. the suede center tassel is adjustable (in addition to the halter and the back ties) – meaning you can control your cleavage level. always a plus!

this next look was one of my favorites. special thanks to the sls south beach for their pink-umbrella-cuteness. these photos really popped thanks to their fun beachside decór! this strappy number is the ‘without borders’ suit by kenneth cole. it is seriously flattering, and was complimented perfectly by my ‘resting beach face’ muscle tank which wound up getting featured on necessary clothing’s instagram! thanks for the love!! it was super cool getting a shoutout from one of my favorite nyc boutiques.

aside from some crazy tan lines (which i was able to even out the following day) – this suit couldn’t have been more perfect. there’s something about a one piece post-weight-loss that makes a girl feel really sexy. i finally felt like i was rocking it as a fashion statement – and not to cover up my body.

on day three i decided to rock a high-neck bikini top, which has been a huge trend this season. as you can see, i bought the shade & shore bottoms from target in two colors, aqua featured in day one, as well as black featured here. they paired perfectly with this jessica simpson ‘botanical highneck halter’ from lord & taylor. i love this top because it’s even super cute with a long skirt, some denim shorts, etc. it looks like a crop top, and is very ‘wearable’ both on the beach and in the resort’s town. would i walk around brooklyn in this? maybe not…. but in miami, anything goes. the bright colors on the halter draw the eye up to the face and take the focus off your midsection. this top would look amazing on hourglass, curvy figures when paired with high-waisted “pin-up” style bottoms.

for my last look, i headed to the kimpton surfcomber south beach where the ambiance was too cool!!! with rows of yellow rocking chairs and life-sized ceramic animal statues…. this pool deck was trippy. straight out of alice in wonderland or something. it was the perfect spot to photograph my last whimsical one-piece:

this beauty is the ‘antigua goddess’ suit by nanette lepore, from neiman marcus. to say i got compliments on this would be an understatement. combining bold blooms with geometric prints and vibrant colors over a white base, the contradiction in this beautiful piece works harmoniously. if you’re looking for a conversation piece that really stands out in a crowd, this swimsuit is the one to beat. at $160, it’s pricey but so incredibly worth it. it’s strappy in all the right places, matches almost anything, and (though it’s named after antigua) reminds me of traditional mexican decór, which i’ve always been a huge fan of.
